論題	"Entry and exit location of startups in Japan"
要旨	The Japanese government has announced the "Startup Development Five-Year Plan" for 2022 and plans to encourage the creation of startups. Several cities and facilities are trying to create startup ecosystems, but does the local environment actually support the creation and growth of startups? If so, what kind of local environment supports the creation and growth of startups? This study focuses on the spatial pattern of startups since the late 2010s in the 23 districts of Tokyo, where many startups in Japan are concentrated, and investigates whether local characteristics affect the creation and growth of startups. In particular, we examine the role of agglomeration economies on the distribution of new startups, startups moving in, startups moving out, startups undergoing M&A, startups undergoing IPO, and startups dissolving. In contrast to previous studies, we find no substantial evidence of positive agglomeration economies for startups during this period.
