IER NEWSLETTER Vol. 10 (2016/10/5) 

 

 

I arrived at the Institute of Economic Research in July 2015 as an Associate Professor. My first visit to Hitotsubashi University was summer in 2004 when I was a graduate student of Princeton University. It was to attend Nobu Kiyotaki’s lecture, who was a Professor of London School of Economics at the time. He moved to Princeton in two years and became my main thesis advisor. The seminar room in the third floor of the IER building is a special place for me where I first met Nobu who has been my role model since then.

 

My main research interest is in macroeconomics, broadly defined. More specifically, I am interested in factors affecting productivities (both micro and macro), endogenous growth theory, business cycle theory, incomplete financial markets, and monetary policies. Compared to my colleagues, my previous research was perhaps more theoretical. But I am hoping to broaden my research toward an empirical direction. For that, I would like to learn from my colleagues and am hoping to collaborate with them in the future. I am very much excited for that.
