This paper overviews the Real-time Income and Consumption of Household (RICH) project that has launched a new household survey. To facilitate this survey, a private finance management application automatically records household expenditures. This feature is important because household spending is difficult to measure. Therefore, this serious data issue within the field of household economy is reviewed, and the RICH project is evaluated in this context.
