“Political Trust and Generational Difference -Changes in Political System Support-”
Aiji Tanaka (School of Political Science & Economics, Waseda University)

The purpose of this paper is to explore changes in Japanese attitudes toward their political system over time, and to detect the structure of those attitudes. This paper will analyze the attitudes toward political system from 1976 through 2001. These analyses have found that political system support had no effect on trust in social security system, nor did the generation difference have any effects on attitudes toward the political system. However, one aspect of system support, as well as the generational difference, had some impact on support for the social security system in Japan in 2001.
