As a government official, I have been engaged in the planning and implementation of policies across a wide range of areas, including economic and fiscal policy, regional revitalization, and consumer affairs. My work has also involved analytical tasks such as drafting government white papers and compiling reports for advisory councils. During two secondments to private think tanks, I conducted research on key policy challenges facing the Japanese economy at the time--such as strengthening economic integration in East Asia, enhancing Japan's potential growth capacity, ensuring the sustainability of fiscal and social security systems, and improving the persistence and diffusion of wage increases--and provided concrete policy recommendations.
Focusing on one of the most critical issues for achieving autonomous growth in the Japanese economy, this project examines how to enhance the sustainability and spillover effects of wage increases. It empirically analyzes the current status and challenges of key wage determinants, including the labor share, price pass-through, and labor productivity. Drawing on both practical experience and academic insights, the project also evaluates the effectiveness of related government policies.
