Government Statistics Anonymized Data Usage Promotion Program

This program provides subsidies for expenses, to the extent feasible under the budget of the Hitotsubashi University Institute of Economic Research, of up to a maximum of 100,000 yen per application, to persons less than 40 years of age who desire to become full-time researchers and to graduate students, in order to encourage the use by young researchers of anonymous government statistical data for which the Research Centre for Information and Statistics of Social Science, Institute of Economic Research, Hitotsubashi University serves as the liaison for data provision. Eligible expenses consist of (1) travel expenses to visit the Institute for purposes such as obtaining anonymous data and to attend academic conferences to report on the results of research conducted using the anonymous data; (2) costs of supplies (not including information-processing and communications equipment); and (3) printing expenses.
Roughly 10 subsidies are planned for this fiscal year.
