I have conducted empirical research on social issues such as inequality, poverty, and disasters by integrating insights from sociology, psychology, and behavioral economics. My work aims to contribute to community design and policymaking by examining socioeconomic determinants of health. Specifically,I have investigated how adverse childhood experiences exert long-term effects on individual's social networks later in life, and how the health benefits of social participation among older adults vary by socioeconomic status. I have also demonstrated that communities with high levels of social participation tend to exhibit better health outcomes in retirement, particularly among men. Additionally, I have conducted an economic experiment in the affected area to demonstrate the impact of disasters on people's preferences.
I am currently conducting research in several areas: (1) addressing social disparities through the study of social participation among older adults and life course inequalities, (2) examining resilience in disaster recovery, and (3) evaluating the impact of public subsidies for infertility treatment.
