Note: Blank spaces indicate that relevant data is missing or that estimates have not been compiled. Figures in column B represent polished rice, and are obtained by multiplying brown rice figures by 0.9 (however, the figures for 1946-60 are the original numbers because it is not known if they represent paddy or polished rice). Grain includes rice, wheat, corn, and others. In principle, potatoes are not included. Population estimates for 1996 are the author's.
