Position Non-tenure Track Assistant Professor or Research Associate
Research field and Recruitment details With the launch of a new research project, "the comprehensive study of inequality," from April 2021, the Institute of Economic Research (IER) of Hitotsubashi University has job openings for a few non-tenure track positions in the fields related to Applied Microeconomics defined broadly to include Development Economics, Economic History, Comparative Institutional Analysis, Economics of Education, Health Economics, Political Economy and other areas. We will consider applicants in fields other than (but closely related to) economics if the applicants have outstanding publications in the research on inequality.

Job details
1) Conducting individual research in the area of specialization, and taking part in the research project, "the comprehensive study of inequality".
2) If hired for a assistant professor position, teaching graduate level courses and sharing administrative responsibility as a constituent member of the IER faculty meeting.
Qualifications
1) Having Ph.D. or an equivalent degree, or expect to receive a degree with high certainty. The doctorate diploma should be submitted upon request after the hiring decision is made.
2) The English language ability for academic research and teaching is required. The Japanese language ability is desirable but not required.
Starting date April 1, 2021 or July 1, 2021 (subject to negotiation)
Employment status
Full-time (Non-tenure Track) 
Three years contract term (renewable for maximum two years).

(3) Up to three research papers (if any paper is forthcoming or in the status of revise-and-resubmit in an academic journal, also provide a proof for such status such as an editor's letter).
(4) Research plan (describe a future research plan based on the past and ongoing research activities within 1,000 English words or 2,000 Japanese letters)
(5) More than two reference's name, affiliation and contact.

Selection process
1st stage: Screening of application documents
2nd stage: Job seminar and interviews (at IER or online)
Compensation
Salary will be determined according to the Personnel Regulations of Hitotsubashi University.
 
Social insurance: employee pension, health insurance, employment insurance, and worker’s accident compensation insurance will be provided.
